Round out your week with a simple burger night. If you are grilling you can throw the brussel sprouts right on there and BOOM – no extra cleanup needed! But, if you don’t have a grill or it is rainy and you are not dealing with it tonight… no problem! Check out the tips below for how to complete this meal with your regular oven and stovetop. I find the brussel sprouts in this recipe to be indulgent enough that it feels like a filling enough little “bite” side along with the burger.

Ingredients List
- 4 hamburger patties (about 5-5.5 oz each)
- 4 hamburger buns (I prefer brioche but potato buns works great as well)
4 slices cheddar cheese
1.5 lbs of brussel sprouts, with ends cut off and cut in half (this is likely around 1 containers worth)
salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon cumin
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon honey
optional (ketchup, bbq sauce etc.)
Recipe: Burgers and Brussels
- Heat grill to medium-high, approximately 400°. Season burgers with salt and pepper and garlic powder.
- Place brussel sprouts in a bowl and drizzle with olive oil, cumin, and garlic powder. Mix well, and then dump into a self-made foil-pouch. Place onto grill and cook for ~20 minutes.
- Add burgers to the grill and cook for about 4-6 minutes per side. when about 2 minutes of cook time remains, add a cheese slice to each burger. Remove, and add to each bun. Feel free to serve with
- Remove the brussel sprouts and return to original bowl. Stir in the tablespoon of honey. Serve with burgers.
Family Tips
- Of course you can easily omit the cheese or swap our ground beef burgers for turkey burgers or bean burgers and cook accordingly.
- To make the brussel sprouts in the oven, heat at 400° for 25 minutes and then add the honey once removed from the oven. Simultaneously, to cook the burgers on the stove use a grill pan and simply cook for 4-6 minutes per side.
